Preparing for your Sacred Window
Why and how should we prepare for Postpartum or my Sacred Window?
The Sacred Window is an ancient Ayurvedic tradition that starts at the conclusion of pregnancy, or the birth, and lasts for 42 days or until baby is 3 months old. The way we care for the mind, body and spirit during this time affects our health for the following 42 years. Parents’ only job is caring, feeding and nurturing baby. Before your Sacred Window arrives
Create a plan before the birth of baby
Build a community or network of support for both parents
Practice the Art of Receiving
Nourish and nurture both Yourself and your baby.
Make a plan.
A postpartum healing plan should be intentionally simple - a mother’s first priorities are bonding with her newborn and resting. From the first week postpartum and onward, this is what Ayurvedic care looks like and the wisdom behind the various practices.
This workshop includes a step-by-step planner and guides you through your Sacred Window.

Ayurvedic Postpartum Care
Vata
The physiological and spiritual processes of birth push excess elements of air and ether (known as “Vata”) within the birth giver. This creates empty space within the womb, giving air the opportunity to occupy this space and cause an imbalance in body and mind. When Vata is out of balance, anxiety insecurity, uncertainty in the mind and dryness, gas, constipation, bloating, pain, discomfort, interrupted sleep and insomnia consume the body.
Nourish and Nurture
Ayurvedic postpartum care seeks to soothe these overblown elements through nourishment and nurturing that gently increase the elements of fire (“Pitta”), water and earth (“Kapha”).
Heal and Rejuvinate
By healing and rejuvenating the reproductive tissues, and promoting healthy breast and lactation channels and prioritizing mother’s health and rejuvenation, we foster an environment of easy bonding between mother and child.
Ayurvedic care brings a sense of mental and emotional well- being to both the new mother and the newborn. A strong dose of warm, heavy, oily, stable and soft qualities of nurture and comfort bring Vata back into balance after the rigors of pregnancy and childbirth.
